The First Boy In Ages

This weekend my Mom, sister and I were invited to a baby shower. If you've been following me for the past year then you know that knitting for babies is my all time favorite, As a matter of fact a majority of my completed projects on Ravelry are baby items. This particular baby had me very knit happy because he will be the first boy to be born into my immediate friends or family in quite some time. Don't get me wrong,  I am fully aware that there are just as many options if not more when it comes to knitting for baby girls but what I'm the most excited about is working with a whole new color pallete. Blues, greens, greys, deep browns; colors that most of the babies in my family do not wear.

We received the invitation a bit short notice so I wasn't able to give as much as I'd liked to but I'm planning on making more and either sending the rest in the mail or dropping it off the next time we visit.

The first gift which I was able to finish in time was this adorable little chunky baby hat with a pom pom on top. (I'm currently writing a pattern for this hat in a few sizes so keep an eye out for it.)

The next gift, which is currently on the needles, fits perfectly into the super hero shower theme. It may not look like much now but this will eventually become a hooded batman sweater. Fun fact: This is the first time I've ever had to use the provisional cast on. I am definitely a fan, in fact my mind is already buzzing with ideas on how I can use it in my future patterns. I'm still not quite sure if I want it to zip or button, Luckily I have  bit of time until I have to make my decision.

The next thing I'll be making is a pair of baby socks with the some of the left over sock yarn that I used to knit my pen pal socks not too long ago. I'll write up my own pattern if I have to but if any of you have any go to baby sock knitting patterns using sock yarn then feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments below, thanks in advance!

Lastly I'd like to knit him a pair of baby booties. I have a pair of baby moccasins from a few years ago lying around but I'm not happy with the way they turned out. One of these days I'm going to frog them. I am planning to knit a pair over small needles with a soft yet somewhat thick yarn so that they have more shape, strength, and structure to them.

That's all for now! I may add to this list as I go but regardless I'll be sure and write again after I've completed everything!

Happy Knitting!
